Paddleboard sales are booming in China, and companies are producing at full capacity!

With the rise of paddleboarding in China, there are more and more open water areas, and the demand for paddleboards required for sports is also constantly increasing.

Zheng Cunpo is the head of a sports equipment company in Taizhou, Zhejiang, and has been engaged in the water sports industry for more than ten years. He told reporters that the demand for paddleboards in China has been increasing year by year in recent years. The company’s factory in Weihai, Shandong has received many orders since April this year. The factory’s six production lines have been operating at full capacity, and workshop workers have also worked overtime to assemble paddleboards. It is expected that domestic orders will increase by more than 20% this year compared to last year.

At present, the sales of paddleboards in China have shifted from being mainly sold by distributors in the past few years to being mainly purchased by consumers online.

He Jian, Deputy General Manager of a sports equipment company in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province: It has developed from one live broadcast room last year to two live broadcast rooms. Leisure boards and versatile boards may be more popular among people, accounting for about 50% to 60%.

With the rise of domestic paddleboarding, paddleboarding brands have also increased their investment in paddleboarding design, craftsmanship, materials, and other aspects to meet consumers’ personalized needs.

Wang Zhilin, Executive Vice President of a leisure and sports goods company in Fengxian District, Shanghai: Domestic sales have increased by approximately 10% to 20% this year. There are some special boards, including children’s, women’s, and entry-level options, ranging from over 1000 yuan to 3000 yuan. Because paddleboarding is an extension of outdoor sports, household consumption has also increased, accounting for 30%.

Industry insiders say that paddleboarding is moving towards popularization. Data shows that by the end of 2023, there were 338 registered paddleboarding clubs nationwide. The global paddleboard market is also constantly growing in size. The global paddleboard market is expected to reach approximately 4.4 billion yuan in 2023 and is projected to reach 6.5 billion yuan by 2030.
